Our hot and cold room is so versatile. There are so many ways you can use the baths, depending on the outcomes and benefits you are seeking.

Cold water therapy, hot water therapy and contrast hydrotherapy all offer their own benefits.

For rest and relaxation, use the hot bath, which improves blood flow, and delivers glycogen (which is depleted during exercise) to your muscles. When immersing yourself in hot water, your body wants to lose heat, so blood moves to the skin through dilating blood vessels. This has the following benefits:

  • Aids in the removal of catabolic waste products from the muscles (lactic acid, ammonia) which contribute to muscle fatigue

  • Brings in inflammatory molecules and protein to aid repair

The benefits of the cold water include pain reduction, through decreased nerve activity; and improved blood flow, reducing swelling and inflammation.  Using the cold bath can also boost your mood and metabolism. When immersing yourself in cold water, your body wants to protect the vital organs, so blood flows to the core through vasoconstriction, or constriction of the blood vessels. As you could imagine, the cold water also reduces the core, skin and muscle temperature. The cold bath offers the following benefits:

  • Overall reduction in muscle pain

  • Reduces nerve activity, decreasing pain and soreness, and improving muscle function

  • Improves blood flow to the muscles, reducing swelling and inflammation caused by injury or exercise.

Swap between the hot and cold baths to receive the benefits of contrast hydrotherapy. When you alternate between the hot and cold water, your body alternates between constricting and contracting the blood vessels. The following benefits can be gained from swapping between the baths:

  • Lessens muscle fatigue, decreasing pain, swelling and lactic acid buildup

  • Detoxes your organs

  • Boosts your immune system

  • Stimulates the central nervous system, further reducing fatigue

  • Aids in the removal of metabolic by-products from exercise

How we love to use our hot + cold room:

We love having regular sessions in the Hot + Cold room, especially after exercise or a sauna session.

When we are looking for pain management, we hop between the baths, spending 2mins in each bath (if you can last that long in the cold!)

When we wish to relax, we hang out in the hot bath only and soak up those fantastic minerals.

After a long sauna session we love to jump in the shower and then straight into the cold bath! A great way to wake up your whole body!

Our hot and cold room gives you access to both baths and the shower, allowing you to use the room as you wish.

Recovery Sauna and Hot/Cold Package

This is one of our most popular packages.

Sweat it all out for 30 minutes in the infrared sauna before plunging into the hot and cold baths.

Perfect for pre- and post-exercise, or when your muscles need some extra attention. This package includes a pot of Jivana tea for you to enjoy.

We also offer a double up version of this package for couples (or friends!) to enjoy together.
